CAROLE CROTEAU

President

Among her accomplishments, Carole Croteau is the past Senior Director of Operations of Altus Group. A CPA and accomplished controller and team builder/leader with more than 20 years of experience in the service industry, Carole is experienced in leading change management initiatives and tools, preparing and monitoring budgets with achievable bottom-line goals and results. She joined the Board in October of 2014 and was elected Treasurer shortly thereafter.

JILL HUGESSEN

Vice-President

Jill is a certified professional coach working with executives and lawyers. Jill obtained a B.A. (psychology) in 1981 and a BCL/LLB (law) in 1985, both from McGill University, and then practiced business and corporate law with Stikeman Elliott LLP from 1986 to 1993. She was subsequently the General Counsel for Karhu Canada, a sporting goods manufacturer and retailer, before returning to Stikeman Elliott in 2001 as a member of the Montreal management team (Director of Professional Development). She left the firm in 2010 to become an executive coach and professional development consultant.  Jill is a past chair and continues to serve as a director, of the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, and is also a member of the hospital’s governing body (the Council for Services to Children and Adolescents) and its Executive Committee.  She joined the Chez Doris Board in January 2016.

ANNIE GAGNON-LAROCQUE

Secretary

A partner at McCarthy Tétrault, Annie Gagnon-Larocque has an active leadership in the firm’s Real Property & Planning Group and acts as the Group’s lead for the Québec region.  She represents and advises clients on a variety of transactions notably real estate acquisitions, real estate financings, property development, commercial leasing, and joint venture transactions. She represents financial institutions and public and private companies in the senior housing, retail and hotel industries. Ms. Gagnon-Larocque was President of CREW Montréal (Commercial Real Estate Women) from 2012 to 2014.  She is also a member of CREW Montreal, ICSC, the Urban Development Institute and the Canadian Bar Association. Ms. Gagnon-Larocque received her BA degree with specialization in French Literature and Translation from McGill University in 1999 and her integrated BCL/LLB degree from McGill University in 2002. She joined the Chez Doris’ Board of Directors in September 2023.

ERIC THAUVETTE

Treasurer
Eric Thauvette is a CPA with more than 30 years of experience, the last 25 with BAT, an international consumer goods company. He currently is the Vice-President and CFO of Imperial Tobacco Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of BAT. Prior to his current role, Eric has completed similar assignments in North Africa, Central Asia and Europe. With a demonstrated ability to adapt and the ambition to achieve the highest standards, he has successfully led major transformation initiatives delivering both growth and productivity gains in highly complex environments.

SYLVIA MARTIN-LAFORGE

Member

Currently Director General of the Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN), an advocacy group for Quebec’s English-speaking community, Sylvia Martin-Laforge has vast policy and program experience dealing with Official Language Minority Communities, Aboriginal and women’s issues. Named to the Board of the Conseil supérieur de la langue française by the Government of Quebec for the period between February 2008 and July 2013, Sylvia Martin-Laforge was elected Vice-President of Chez Doris shortly after joining the organization in July of 2014.

MARK SHALHOUB

Member
Mark Shalhoub has worked as a broadcast journalist (CTV News, CJAD 800, 940 News, Q92, etc.) in a variety of News and Sports capacities over the last 20 years. He has also been an on-air / online commercial video storyteller (Mark Shalhoub Communications) over the last decade, producing hundreds of videos of all types. Mark’s commitment to Chez Doris is longstanding; as a member of Rotaract in 1988, he volunteered to paint our house’s outdoor steps and has been the MC at our Tea fundraiser, finally joining the Board in December of 2014.

ANDRÉ MORRIS

Member
André Morris has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, where he has worked closely with numerous executives, business leaders, healthcare professionals and charities. André holds a life and group insurance license and has successfully completed the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board’s residential real estate brokerage program. He also holds the prestigious Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation. Outside of his professional career, André attaches great importance to his community involvement. He joined the Chez Doris’ Board of Directors in September 2023.

MARY LARSON

Member
Having played global strategic leadership roles as a senior executive for leading international companies and as a partner in top-tier consulting firms, Mary has built an extensive array of skills around strategy, sustainability, and organizational culture. Mary serves as a trusted advisor to CEOs and senior executives in the US, Canada and Europe on strategy, culture, governance, and leadership issues. She has also led culture and organization transformation initiatives in multi-billion dollar companies and crown corporations. She is currently a board member and partner at MNP Consulting, where she leads the National Strategy Practice. Mary has served on several not-for-profit boards, typically as Board or Committee Chair.

THIERRY LEROUX-DEMERS

Member
Enterprise Architect (AVP) at Manulife, Thierry has worked in Information Technologies for over 30 years and participates to technology governance for Manulife local and global operations. He implemented software solutions in multiple areas, including telecoms, financial services, industrial SMEs and, as a volunteer, for minor hokey. In addition to a bachelor’s in computer engineering from École Polytechnique, Thierry has an MBA (UQAM) and has touched on the different management disciplines such human resources, marketing, accounting, taxation, contracts, and intellectual property, as a manager and entpreneur, as well as through his involvement in different non-profit organizations.

KATHLEEN WEIL

Member
After obtaining a Bachelor of Civil Law, Common Law and History and Political Science from McGill University. Kathleen Weil began her political career by joining the Quebec Liberal Party. She was first elected to the Quebec National Assembly in 2008, representing the riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. During her tenure, she held various ministerial positions, including Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities, Minister of Immigration, Diversity, and Inclusion, and Minister of Justice. After retiring from active politics in 2018, Kathleen Weil continues to be involved in causes close to her heart. She joined Chez Doris’ Board of Directors in September 2023.
