Clinique juridique et impôt

Clinique juridique

Sarah Sabloff (aka Alter) and Cynthia Kerr will be back for a 2nd year in a row to provide a ‘’Spa Day’’ to 40 women at Chez Doris this Wednesday, Valentine’s Day. They will provide soothing Arbonne anti-aging facials and once the treatments are completed, each woman will also enjoy a makeover by well-known make-up artist Mindy Shear along with her three to four assistants. Mindy Shear typically caters to a celebrity clientele. Many thanks to Sarah Sabloff who raised over $2,500 from friends, colleagues, and family to purchase all the Arbonne products needed. She also obtained in-kind donations from: IGA Marché de l’ouest (8 dozen cupcakes), Colgate-Palmolive Canada (toothpaste and toothbrushes), Q-Spa West Island (foot creams), Jean-Coutu Pierrefonds (luffa sponges), Gallérie au chocolat (Valentine Heart Chocolates), West Spa, Samuel Augustin Salon, Arts & Kartz, Rachel Shultz Cosmetics, and Party Mania. On January 31, 2018 Chez Doris hosted Genevieve Collard, Christine Desrochers, Andrea Chartrand (pictured left to right) from the Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Québec. They led a “Sharing Circle” for eleven indigenous women (ten Inuit and one Cree) at Chez Doris. The predominant theme of the discussions were how indigenous children are removed from their mothers by Youth Protection and their good and bad experiences with the police though not necessarily with the SPVM. Of the women who attended, four are now scheduled to provide recorded testimonials for the inquiry.

The Government of Québec created this Commission on December 21, 2016, under the chairmanship of the honourable Jacques Viens. The mandate of the Viens Commission is to investigate and recommend measures to be implemented by the Government of Québec and Indigenous officials to prevent or eliminate, regardless of their origin or cause, all forms of violence, discriminatory practices and differential treatment in the delivery of the public services (police, correctional, legal, health and social services, as well as youth protection services) to indigenous people of Quebec. This public inquiry is a result of the events of 2015 in Val-d’Or, where Aboriginal women (and men) came forward with allegations of abuse against Sûreté du Québec officers. www.cerp.gouv.qc.ca provides additional information on the Commission.
